Advanced First Aid
Course Overview
Our Advanced First Aid training is tailored to our clients' requirements to cover the knowledge and skills that are desired by their first aid responders. It is ideal for those who already have completed a Level 3 First Aid at Work or equivalent beforehand. The course is designed to be offered for group bookings by clients who have a number of staff who need to be upskilled in their first aid knowledge and skills.
It is based upon the easy-to-remember MARCH priorities in treating casualties. MARCH provides a framework to address immediate life threats and gives an organised approach to begin a casualty evaluation. The MARCH mnemonic is preferable to the ABCDE model because it takes into consideration that the reason you need an airway and to be breathing is to circulate blood to the casualty’s brain. Recognising that, the first step in our casualty evaluation should be to look for massive haemorrhage.
M - Massive haemorrhage A - Airway R - Respiration C - Circulation H - Hypothermia
Advanced First Aiders typically include those working in high-risk environments, including power stations, nuclear sites, manufacturing sites, heavy engineering sites, security circuit, and agriculture.
This informative and tailored training provides the knowledge and practical skills needed to deal with a range of prehospital emergency care situations in the client's operational environments.
As specialist trainers, we understand that empowering learners in realistic environments and allowing them to experience certain situations first-hand will help them get the most out of the training experience. For that reason, we recommend that this training be delivered at our client's site in the learners' natural environment and workplace where appropriate. We can also facilitate this training in one of our dedicated training facilities.
