Introduction

Ubique Project Management team is providing Project Management support in the regeneration of Stockport Town Centre.

Our duties included the following:

Development of detailed scope document and associated project governance;
Preparation of project business case;
Design management for feasibility and detailed design and coordination of CDM duties;
Coordination of multiple design disciplines.

Objective

To modernise Stockport Town Centre with new surfacing and improved public space as part of the multi-million-pound regeneration of Stockport town centre, whilst addressing many of the maintenance issues around the structure itself. Our objective was to manage the scope cost and programme of the project and ensure a safe and successful project delivery

Solution

As part of the regeneration work the project team identified the opportunity to conduct extensive repairs and structural improvements from below and to waterproof the bridge to extend its lifespan as part of the ongoing maintenance. Combining this maintenance and repair work with the regeneration works:

High-quality paving;
New functional and decorative lighting;
Street furniture and landscaping;
Building interface improvements in line with the regeneration improvements.
Interfacing with major development stakeholders;
Assessment and support in identifying solutions for Hostile Vehicle Mitigation measures in conjunction with this area.

These works will help to support the wider regeneration of the town centre and will complement the investments in other areas of regeneration, which are part of the ongoing strategy to improve the high street and create a vibrant town centre that benefits visitors, residents, and local businesses.
