The qualification is also supported by the Education and Training Foundation, and can either support a role in the workplace or prepare learners to progress to a qualification in the same subject area but at a higher level. This qualification sits on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) regulated by Ofqual and CCEA Regulation. The qualification is also regulated by Qualifications Wales.
This qualification encompasses three units which learners must complete successfully in order to achieve the qualification. The units are broken down as follows:
Unit 1: Understanding the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training.
This introductory unit helps you to understand the introduction of teaching including health and safety, equal opportunities and the other professionals you may have to work with.
Unit 2: Understanding and using inclusive learning and teaching approaches in education and training.
This unit helps you to understand how people learn, the ways in which people communicate and how to use a range of different teaching methods and resources to help you meet your learners’ individual needs.
Unit 3: Understanding assessment in education and training.
This unit includes understanding the types and methods of assessment used in education and training, how to involve learners and others in the assessment process and the role and use of constructive feedback in the assessment process.
To meet assessment criteria learners will need to prepare a simple timed plan prior to undertaking a 15 minute micro-teaching session that is observed and assessed as well as completing a portfolio of evidence of understanding.
This 3 day course is delivered at your premises if suitable, or alternatively can be delivered at one of our dedicated training facilities.
On days one and two, one of our experienced tutors will guide you through the content for the three units, fully preparing you for the written assessments. The third day is the practical assessment day where each learner delivers a 15 – 30 minute micro-teach (mini lesson) on a subject of their choice.
After the course, learners are given a month to submit their three written assessments, during which time our submissions team are happy to provide formative feedback for draft work.
A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course and all candidates must be a minimum of 19 years of age to qualify.
Upon successful completion of the qualification assessment, Learners will be awarded the Ofqual regulated Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF).
