LAUNCH OF THE SECURE INNOVATION SECURITY REVIEW SCHEME
On the 10th July 2025 HMG publicly announced the launch of the Secure Innovation Security Review Scheme. To support organisations to stay secure, this year the Government is part-funding security reviews delivered by approved Security Reviewers for up to 500 early-stage tech organisations, so now is the time to take advantage of this opportunity. As an approved Security Reviewer, I will work with organisations throughout the process to aid them in their security journey.
The UK’s National Protective Security Authority (NPSA) and National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) developed the Secure Innovation campaign to help founders and leaders of innovative early-stage tech companies to protect their IP, competitive advantage, and reputation from state threat actors and state backed competitors.

The Security Review scheme provides access to my expertise as an approved Security Reviewer. I will assess an organisations current protective security practices and provide expert guidance against a framework developed by the UK’s national technical authorities, NPSA and NCSC. The goal is not just to implement security measures, but to position security as a strategic enabler— enhancing investor and customer confidence.
In a partnership between NPSA, NCSC, Innovate UK, the Department of Business and Trade (DBT), and the Department of Science, Innovation, and Technology (DSIT), up to 500 small and medium sized organisations will have the opportunity to take part in this part-funded scheme, with participating organisations contributing £500, and the remaining £2,500 being covered by an HMG Fund.
The security review scheme provides early-stage innovative companies holistic protective and cyber security advice to support them to protect their IP, looking at the company's approach to protective security governance, risk and incident management, security culture, cyber security, and supply chains and partnerships.
In a pilot of the scheme 98% of participants reported feeling that they had sufficient knowledge to identify the security threats to their business following the review, and 89% stating the £500 contribution represented value for money.
The message to emerging technology organisations is simple, don’t leave it too late to protect your innovation!
