Introduction

The World Institute for Nuclear Security (WINS) asked Ubique to design and deliver a series of webinars to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN region) on Competency Frameworks and Training Needs Analysis. This would take the form of three webinars, which would link into a regional workshop on managing competency and training and the WINS best practice guide on managing competency and training.

Objective

The purpose of the first of a series of Webinars was to provide an introduction to competency framework development and how this relates to identifying training needs in an organisation. It sought to relate these concepts to the nuclear security sector and discussed their relevance for countries and their competent authorities in the ASEAN region.

Solution

This webinar, the first instalment of the webinar series, was designed as an introduction to competency framework development for nuclear security. This webinar explained how these methods ensure that individuals with nuclear security responsibilities can carry out their roles and responsibilities more effectively. The webinar introduced essential topics and provided case studies and real-world examples to emphasise the importance of the topic. Using interactive techniques, Mentimeter, and audience participation, the 90-minute webinar engaged with a broad audience with varying levels of subject matter knowledge.

“The webinars attracted more than 30 representatives from ASEAN countries and was well received by all. The competency framework development can be a game-changer in improving nuclear security in the ASEAN region.”
