Some people spend years looking for the work that fits them. Chloe found hers delivering a highway maintenance scheme for a local authority, and has been building on it ever since.
Chloe joined Ubique Risk Management in August 2024 as an Assistant Project Manager. In the time since, she has progressed to Project Manager, taken on construction programmes of increasing complexity, and established herself as someone who takes ownership, manages risk, and gets things delivered. In her own words, that is exactly how she would describe her approach to the job.
Chloe began her career at 17, joining a local authority as an apprentice and working her way into a permanent position. It was there, becoming involved in the delivery of highway maintenance projects, that she discovered what project management actually felt like in practice: accountability, problem-solving, and the satisfaction of seeing a scheme progress from plan to completion. She applied for an Assistant Project Manager role, was appointed, and has not looked back.
By the time she joined Ubique, Chloe had built four years of experience across construction and highways delivery, ranging from minor civils schemes through to larger infrastructure programmes. That grounding in site-level delivery gives her a perspective that office-based project management alone can’t produce. She understands what is happening on the ground because she’s been there.
Chloe works primarily on construction projects, and is currently involved in the delivery of St Helens Interchange, a significant infrastructure project that demands exactly the kind of focused, deadline-driven approach she brings to her work.
Her areas of expertise sit at the practical core of project delivery: keeping teams focused, ensuring deadlines are met, and making certain that the right conversations are happening at the right time. She is, by her own cheerful admission, not afraid to chase people down when progress needs to happen. On a live construction programme, that is not a personality trait. It is a professional necessity.
What Chloe enjoys most about project management is the human dimension: being out on site, speaking directly to the people delivering the work, understanding what is happening and what is needed. That preference for face-to-face communication is not incidental. It reflects a genuine conviction about what makes projects succeed.
For Chloe, communication and the sharing of information is key. Without people talking to each other, progress stalls. A single conversation, she points out, can be critical to a project’s completion. It is an observation that sounds simple until you consider how many programmes have faltered precisely because the right people were not talking to each other at the right moment.
Her advice to anyone managing a complex project is equally grounded: stay focused, and make decisions based on the facts available at the time. Not perfect information, which rarely exists on a live programme, but the best information currently to hand. Decisiveness, applied to real evidence, is what keeps things moving.
What drives Chloe professionally is the desire to keep developing. She is motivated by projects that expand her knowledge, challenge her capabilities, and give her the opportunity to make a genuine difference to an outcome. That appetite for professional development is visible in the progression she has made at Ubique, from Assistant Project Manager to Project Manager in under two years.
Outside of work, Chloe is committed to fitness and runs her own Instagram page dedicated to motivating others, particularly women, to work towards better versions of themselves every day. It is, in its own way, an extension of the same instinct that makes her effective on site: the belief that with focus, accountability, and consistent effort, progress follows.
